| Area Activities and Attractions The greater Auburn/Lewiston area offers many varied ways to enjoy Maine’s great outdoors. In the winter you might try our local ski area, Lost Valley or make the drive to Sunday River or Sugarloaf for terrific downhill conditions. Cross-country skiing is available nearby at Pineland Conference Center which offers nearly 25km of trails. Snowshoeing is available right here at Sleepy Time Motel on our Sleepy Hollow Trail System which offers three miles of trails. |
For summer visits, swimming is nearby at Range
Pond State Park which has a nice sand beach,
lifeguards, picnic facilities and a bathhouse.
Golfers have many choices, five courses are
within 15 minutes, including Fox Ridge and
Prospect Hill Golf Courses.
. We have great bird watching opportunities,
either here on our trails, Thorncrag Bird
Sanctuary in Lewiston or at Bradbury Mountain
State Park in Pownal. Some of Maine’s best
ocean beaches and lighthouses are only 1 hour
away along the Atlantic coast. Rock hounds
might like to visit Mount Apatite, an Auburn city
park, famous for it’s variety of minerals including
tourmaline and purple apatite. Are you in the
mood for a festival? Our area has many including
one of the largest hot air balloon gatherings in
the Northeast, Great Falls Balloon Festival, along
with the Liberty Festival, Moxie Festival and
many others.
