Swimming and Golf For summer visits, swimming is 15 minutes away at Range Ponds State Park which has a sand beach, lifeguards, picnic facilities and a bathhouse. Golfers have many choices; five courses are within 10-15 minutes including Fox Ridge and Prospect Hill Golf Courses.
Rock Hunting Rock hounds might like to visit Mt. Apatite, an Auburn city park, famous for it’s variety of minerals found including tourmaline and purple apatite. There are also several mines and mineral sites in Oxford County to explore.
Fall Foliage During our Fall foliage season our central location is ideal for taking any number of trips to see the colors. Take a trip to the White Mountains or Rangeley area for beautiful fall colors.
Shopping And don’t forget shopping! Freeport with the L.L. Bean flagship store as well as many other outlet and specialty stores is just 30 minutes away.
Winter Activities During the winter you might try our local ski area, Lost Valley Ski and Mountain Biking Area or make a longer drive to Sunday River or Sugarloaf for terrific downhill conditions. Cross-Country skiing is available nearby at Pineland Conference Center which offers nearly 25 km of trails as well as facilities in the Oxford area. Snowshoeing is available right here at Sleepy Time on our three miles of trails.
